Northglenn Judo Club is Moving!

The City of Northglenn has completed its new Civic Center (located just west of the old recreation center) which will become our new home.  In preparation for our move and the grand opening ceremonies on Saturday the 9th of October we will be moving our new mats into the new gym.  As with past events, the more of us that can come out to help the faster the setup will go.

Here is our current schedule:
September 23rd (Thursday) This will be the last regular practice at the old rec center.

September 25th (Saturday) We will have regular Kata practice from 8:00-10:00 AM. This will be the last Kata practice at the old rec center. Once we bow out and everyone changes, we will load the Kata mats onto a moving truck (parked in fire lane by the pool deck). We will have non-Kata club members and other helpers meet at our storage unit (Public Storage – 11550 Huron Street, Northglenn, CO 80234) at 10:30 AM to get our new main mats. Once the new mats are loaded, everyone heads back to the new civic center to put everything away (might take a couple hours since we have to assemble the main mats.) There is a new hoist system in place, but the vendor has asked that we wait for instructions – see the date below.

September 26th (Sunday) This is the last day the old rec center will be active. There will be no judo practice from 9/26 to 10/12.

September 27th (Monday) The hoist vendor will be onsite at the civic center to train us how to engage the new mat system at 9:30 AM.

October 2nd or 3rd (Sat or Sun) The club from Wyoming will be coming to get our old mats that weekend. Sensei Hideki will share the final plan and how many NJC volunteers we will need once that’s finalized.

October 9th (Saturday) The city will be hosting grand opening ceremonies from 1 – 7 PM at the new civic center. We are scheduled for a demonstration from 1:00 – 2:00 PM. Our plan is to have a mini class, including Kata practice. Sensei Tracy is already working on getting our judoka ready for the demo, so if anyone would like to participate, they only need to come to our regular practices to be prepared. If anyone does not want to or can’t participate in the demo, it would still be good to have them dress out and be available to answer any questions from bystanders.

October 12th (Tuesday) We will resume all normally scheduled practices at the new civic center.
